Kidnapper out on a technicality

A woman arrested on charges of kidnapping a six-year-old boy and holding him captive for five months has been released due to technicalities.

ALBERTON – An alleged kidnapper is still at large in Katlehong, after being released due to technicalities involved with the case. The woman reportedly admitted to kidnapping a six-year-old boy and keeping him captive for five months.

The boy was found on Monday, June 1, after being spotted by his father. He had been missing since January 9.

He went missing after, it was alleged, the woman called him by name in a park, where he was playing with his friends, and offered to buy the children lollipops. She gave money to the children and led the boy away.

The child has reportedly been seen by a doctor and been given a clean bill of health.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on the same day and charged with his kidnapping.

She woman appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, where she was released due to technicalities.

However, Capt Mega Ndobe has confirmed to the Germiston City News that the woman may be charged again, following an investigation by the Katlehong police.
