A quiet residential street in Brackenhurst was transformed into a crime scene on Thursday, July 9, after a 47-year old woman was shot in her driveway. Brackendowns SAPS acting spokesperson, Warrant Officer Jeanette Phefo, confirmed that the victim was shot in front of her home as she attempted to reverse away from an unknown number of suspects.
Nothing was taken from the vehicle. The woman was declared deceased en route to the Netcare Union Hospital.
The suspects were reportedly driving a blue VW Golf 1.
Police suspect that the woman was followed to her home. “If people notice suspicious vehicles following them, they should drive to the closest police station. Don’t go home,” Phefo said.
A case of murder was opened and is currently under investigation.
