Alleged drunk driver kills mother and son (4)
The family of five were allegedly on their way home when a vehicle lost control and hit the mother and son.
A mother (24) and a 4-year-old boy were knocked down and killed, by an alleged drunk driver, in Mayberry Park last night, September 6, just after 20:00.
Kevin Peel, spokesperson for the National Paramedical Services, said a family of five consisting also of a father and two more children were reportedly on their way home from a nearby shop when a vehicle came speeding down JG Strijdom Road, the driver reportedly lost control before hitting the mother and son.
It is alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
“The mother was found a few meters from where she was hit,” Peel said.

The father and the other two children escaped the incident and did not sustain any serious injuries.
It is understood the driver tried fleeing the scene but was eventually arrested by the Brackendowns SAPS who is investigating charges of culpable homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent driving.
The Ekurhuleni Fire Department, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), members of the Community Policing Forum (DPF), security companies, Miracle Towing as well as trauma councillors were on the scene to assist where they could.
