SAPS tackle abuse against women and children
South Africa is facing a fight against gender violence and child abuse on a daily basis and communities are requested to make a difference, men and boys are especially called to step up.
SAPS Eden Park, under the leadership of Constable Mita Badi, organised an event at the Palmridge Community Hall to address the 16 Days of Activism Against Abuse of Women and Children.
The audience was addressed by highly ranked SAPS officials who stressed that women are afraid to open cases against their abusers because they are either breadwinners or respected by their communities.
“Women who are victims of abuse must bring their abusers to justice and must not withdraw cases because of pressure by either family members or the perpetrators,” Badi said.
