The first New Year’s baby was delivered at 00.40am by Simphiwe Mdau.
Mdau named her baby boy weighing 3,6 kg, Sfiso, meaning “My wish”.
Melody Mbiza gave birth to the second baby at 2.10am, followed by Nonhlanhla Mphahlela at 3.40am. Both gave birth to boys.
Mimmy Nkuna, matron at the hospital, says: “We have broken the record of the number of New Year’s babies we’ve had at the hospital.”
The mothers say they are very happy to have given birth to healthy babies.
