DA proud of matriculants

Thank you Radebe for making a big difference in the lives of our young people.

TIME and time again, I am renewed in my pride for the South of Johannesburg and it’s people. This year is no exception. The recent announcement of the matric results have shown that the Gauteng matric pass rate is 84,2 per cent. However for the Joburg South area it is well above the provincial norm at 87,6 per cent.

But there is even more for us to be proud of. The story of Kenilworth Secondary School makes me puff my chest out with pride. Kenilworth Secondary is the top performing school in the South achieving a 100 per cent pass rate and a 68 per cent university exemption. Led by a true leader of a headmaster who clearly has a passion for his job, his learners and education in general. Morgan Radebe is building this new school into a first class top performer.

It is examples such as these that truly show the construction of our rainbow nation. These are our true heroes; certainly not the uninspiring politicians that we as South Africans have to endure on our television screens (and I have to confront face to face in Parliament).

It is in these examples that I draw hope for South Africa and it’s future. Thank you Radebe for making a big difference in the lives of our young people.

You bring us all hope.
