The suspect ran away, escaped through the passage of the court and disappeared.

A SUSPECT who had been in custody to appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 19, escaped before being taken into the awaiting trail cells at the court.

The suspect, a former security guard at the court, was arrested on charges of pointing a firearm and breaking into the court buildings.

The suspect appeared before the magistrate who postponed his appearance to February 2 while remaining in custody.

A police officer escorted the man to the cells and while opening the cell door, the suspect ran away, escaped through the passage of the court and disappeared.

The police report states that the warrant officer who was escorting the suspect and two other awaiting trail suspects, chased after the escaping man and left the other two behind. It is further reported that the escaped suspect broke the backdoor of the court and escaped.
